April - May 2009 The Premier of the DVD of the Morgan Breed Spectacular .... RanchBoss Cortez Supreme Led Stallion of the Blackbutt Show yet again .... Wilga Park Summer Beauty and Wilga Park Golden Ash have arrived ... Mt Tawonga Nepean still teaching kids to ride ... The Breed Spectacular at the Toowoomba Royal Show was so successful and the resultant DVD so special we decided to make an 'Event' out of it and invited people to join us for the 'World Premier' of the DVD. We had a ton of fun, dressed in our glitzy gear and trod the red carpet with champagne. A truely wonderful event. Click HERE for a sneak peak at a slideshow of photos of the Display.
The Premier of the Morgan Breed Spectacular DVD Blackbutt Show was once again a huge success for Morgans. Cortez was Champion Morgan, Reserve Champion Colourama and then to top off the day ... Supreme Led Stallion of the Show. Cortez takes every opportunity to have a doze in-between classes .. and doesn't give two hoots for anyone wanting to take a photo of him dressed in his Supreme Gala! Imke shows our horses beautifully and they have a ton of fun together. Oscar was first in the Morgan Gelding class and Nepean second, however their roles were reversed in the ridden. Nepean was second to Cortez in the ridden Morgan and Oscar third. Cortez also won the ridden Colourama class. ![]() RanchBoss Cortez with Imke Quast - the Sleepy Supreme Stallion Mt Tawonga Oscar & Imke in the Champion Gelding class; then Mt Tawonga Nepean in the ridden Morgan class At home, both Nepean and Oscar entertain the grandchildren and teach other youngsters the real ropes of riding a horse. These horses are invaluable!!
Nepean being a very gentle School Master
Oscar doing his thing ... entertaining our grand-daughter, Morgan, and Chaser the Border Collie
A Western Clinic with Les Vogt from California USA, was held in Toowoomba recently, and the Organiser needed additional horses for riders coming to the clinic. Greg offered the use of some of our ridden Morgans to help out. Nepean, Rocky and Cortez along with Wilga Park Malaynee (Jane, her owner, felt it would be an excellent experience for her as well) went along to the clinic. Nepean was a busy boy, as he was a Dressage horse taking his rider to the ribbons in the morning and then became a cow horse for the afernoon and the next day. The young fellow who rode Cortez was over the moon. He was overheard telling an old stockman what an awesome horse he is, and he said he was the luckiest fella in Australia to be riding such a horse. He told Greg that Cortez taught him more in one day than any of the horses he'd been riding with Les over the previous weeks. Now that's nice to hear!
RanchBoss Cortez doing what he was born to do ... as a Western Working Cowhorse Wilga Park Summer Beauty (Chance) and Wilga Park Golden Ash have made it to Broome! Tammy-Lee and Sue have reported that they have settled in well. From Tammy- Lee ... "Chance (aka HRH Princess Chance) arrived at her kingdom yesterday afternoon. Put her straight in with my two boys (she had already been in a paddock with Rev at Saltriver last year), and it was like she had been there and been in charge forever. Very funny to see the 35kg (well maybe a bit more) tiny Morgan Princess telling the 600kg 15.3hh stock horse what to do!! The look on his face when she moved into the hay area was hysterical! So those two are now officially joined at the hip - for better or worse - went to check her during the night and they were laying down together with heads touching, very sweet." Sue tells me that Ash has settled in beautifully and already has her in a routine! Ash thinks that he is allowed on the back verandah of their house and spends a lot of his time admiring the handsome dude in the window. He still hasn't worked out that it's his own reflection! Tammy and Sue have taken the kids out for bush walks as well, so I think these two Wilga Park babies are in horse heaven!! (Sue must have been on the other side of the camera for the Ash photo!)
