February 2009 RanchBoss Cortez, with Imke Quast - 3 Times Champion at Oakey Show in Open Company! Golden Glory and Jalapeno are still winning hearts. Our expected Foals have been sex tested ... Practicing for the Morgan Breed Display at the Toowoomba Royal ... Wilga Park Serjania, Wilga Park Tippuhana and Wilga Park Golden Ash are making their new owners tremendously happy.
Cortez & Imke - 3 Times Champion at Oakey Show RanchBoss Cortez has started the Show Season in excellent form. Imke Quast, his Handler and Rider, took him out to the Oakey Show where they won Champion All Breeds, Champion Buckskin Stallion and Champion Ridden Buckskin. It was no easy win, as it was against a good sized field of quality horses. We are so proud of the achievements of these two. Wilga Park Golden Glory and Wilga Park Jalapeno at three months of age, are still winning hearts with children and adults alike. These two just love human company and give great joy to all our visitors when they visit the Foal Paddock. Both foals are happy to give rides to the youngsters and to be cuddled, then kissed on the nose as a 'thank-you'. ![]() Golden Glory - 3 months old - with Flynn who had just had a ride on her
Jalapeno - 3 months old - with John, and checking out what young Flynn is up to Godlen Glory with our niece, Nina, on board and Wilga Park Jalapeno just looking pretty All six of our mares are pregnant! Eagleview Skybeau (Calypso) is once again in foal to Ragtime Oro Blanco. Our three year old mare, Wilga Park Tippuhana, is in foal to Cortez, along with Haymeron Park Ruby Jane, Mt Tawonga Natasha, Mt Tawonga Marrella and Red Bluff Paprika. All but Calypso and Tippuhana have had the embryos sex tested at this stage. Marrella will deliver her foal first, in October, and it is to be a colt. Then Natasha (Elle) will have her filly foal, followed closely by Paprika's foal ... sex unknown as the embryo was just not going to move into the right position at the time of the scan! That one will be a surprise for us.
Wilga Park Tippuhana, pregnant to RanchBoss Cortez Haymeron Park Ruby Jane is going to deliver a colt foal, and let's hope it is as gorgeous as the little buckskin colt she lost by delivering 7 weeks early in 2008, through placentitus. RJ's foal will be followed within a few weeks by Skybeau and Tip's foals. Both these mares are having colts as well!! I am very pleased we are having a majority of colts. These boys will be gelded and available as sensible, smart, talented and good looking riding horses. Our Morgans will be participating in a fantastic Display at the Toowoomba Royal on 27 March. There will be 10 Morgans with Riders and Handlers doing some Spectacular things. We have wonderful friends who have volunteered to perform on our horses. It will be a display well worth watching!! The horses and riders are having so much fun practicing for this, I think they will all be very sorry once the big event is over! Here are some photos of them all practicing their routines. ![]() Mt Tawonga Oscar and David, Mt Tawonga Nepean with Tam and Chase the Dog (with Chloe on behind)
Practicing the Finale ... the Wheel in the Quadrille - they will carry flags for this The Pas de Deux in Long Reins, and Wilga Park Malaynee with Jane showing their Horsemanship skills Wilga Park Serjania (Jack) has left us for his new home in Victoria. We are so very lucky to have some really lovely people purchase our babies. Jan and Jack have bonded already and he is now sharing a paddock with an older Pony mare, Prinnie, who is his best buddy. I miss Jack every day when I go to feed the herd, but I know that he has a wonderful future ahead of him with Jan and her Instructor and Jan's 10 year old daughter. Wilga Park Tippuhana will also leave us to go to her new home, but not before she has delivered and weaned her Cortez foal. My very first riding Instructor, Rachel, who moved to Western Australia, has purchased Tippuhana to breed some lovely Peformance Morgans, and Morgans to suit those riders who want a horse they can trust; a horse that wants to be with their owner and give them a safe and enjoyable ride whether it be having fun on the Trail or the Beach, or performing in a discipline of their owners choice. Wilga Park Golden Ash will be moving to WA as well. He is going to a home, in Broome, where he will enjoy a life of companionship, lots of enjoyable rides and lots of Equine Bowen Therapy, (whether he needs it or not) from his new owner, Sue. I don't think Ash will complain too much at all about a life like that! He will also get to meet up with his foal mate, Wilga Park Summer Beauty (aka Chance). Chance will be living not too far from Ash, in Broome as well. They were born within 3 days of each other and were inseparable as foals. Ash's current owners are tremendously happy that he has found a home where he will get to do lots of interesting things. They made the brave decision to part with Ash when they realised that he was not going to have the opportunity to learn the things a young horse needs to learn at his age, simply through a lack of time. We commend them for putting Ash's needs before their own dreams.
