Our Kimberley-Cortez Connection ....

Six Coloured Foals for Wilga Park ...

A buckskin colt for Western Australia ...

Golden Glory is growing up ....

Wilga Park will move to a new 150 acre Property at East Greenmount ...

Wilga Park will be able to provide Frozen semen from Cortez as well as chilled semen, throughout Australia and Tasmania ...

Wilga Park Summer Beauty and Wilga Park Golden Ash have found the best homes in the world with two brilliant horsewomen in Broome WA. Who would have thought that the very first two of Cortez's foals would end up together on the far side of the country!! They are now just three years old (3 days apart in birth) and have been through the best starting process any young horse could wish for ... and any caring breeder could possibly hope for.

Golden Ash

These two ladies have connections with Kellie Stewart of Salt River Performance Horses in WA and Kellie went to Broome for just two weekends to help these young horses along in their initial training. I am just SO proud of these two ... and forever grateful that Tam and Sue purchased these two kids.

Here are some words from Kellie Stewart ... Hi Kathy, I have just been on your site and have to say I love your new colt - He is devine (that was Golden Solidago - golden Ash's younger brother).  I also must say it was a pleasure to be able to start both Flynn (Golden Ash) and Chance (Summer Beauty) and the willingness of those two youngsters to please is second to none.

Both those two just took everything in there stride, with no fuss. When presented with something challenging there was never any doubt in my mind that they would get through it. I have just returned from Broome, where I spent time teaching Sue and Tam and also riding their horses. I have to say that Chance is Deluxe! She is so light, and flows accross the ground with ease. First time cantering balanced circles in the arena was  easy-peasy to her - then just breathe out and stop and stand - no fidgiting just relaxed and waiting for the next job to do!

Flynn is the perfect horse for Sue! He also just takes everything in his stride! We went to the beach for a horsemanship class in flowing and going ... not a worry to him!! What I like about him too is if you stop riding, he stops. I  have suggested to the girls to put those two youngsters out for the wet season to grow and absorb their starting process, beacuse there was really nothing left to do- so next year they shall be able do what ever they fancy with them.

On working with the Wilga Park Morgans from a starting and teaching point of view, I thouroughly recommend them to any potential horse owner looking for a safe, willing, enjoyable, soft ride!

cheers ... Kellie Stewart

Tam and Wilga Park Summer Beauty aka Chance (RanchBoss Cortez X Eagleview Skybeau) - 3 yrs old

Sue and Wilga Park Golden Ash - aka Flynn - (RanchBoss Cortez X Red Bluff Paprika) - 3 yrs old

We have six coloured babies for 2009. The first was born on November 12th and the last was born on December 16th. We are so proud of Cortez. This season he has had 8 babies, all except one is buckskin. What a record!! He has had 3 colts and 5 fillies in that lot. Three of those babies were to outside T'bred mares and they all show a likeness to our purebred babies. He is certainly pre-potent.

Below are photos of his babies ... all except Wilga Park Jacobinia are his. Jacobinia is by our perlino Morgan, Ragtime Oro Blanco, frozen semen.

Jacobinia (Ragtime Oro Blanco X Eagleview Skybeau) and Desert Rose (RanchBoss Cortez X Wilga Park Tippuhana)

Tibouchina (Cortez X Mt Tawonga Marrella)

Chancellor (Cortez X Mt Tawonga Natasha)

Golden Solidago (Cortez X Red Bluff Paprika)

Lisianthus (Cortez X Haymeron Park Ruby Jane)

Wilga Park Chancellor was purchased when he was 12 hours old. We had no idea that Nila had been waiting patiently for Mt Tawonga Natasha and RanchBoss Cortez to have a young gelding for her to ride. She has great plans for Chancellor and we are so very proud that Nila has chosen one of ours. They will do marvellous things together in the Dressage arena. Nila is a lovely soft rider who gets the very best out of her horse. She also does her training with Andrew McLean ... what a bonus for young Chancellor!!

Nila and Andrew came to visit to meet Chancellor when he was three weeks old.

The meeting of two souls that were meant to be together!

... and Chancellor's first halter.

Whilst Nila was here, she had her first ride on RanchBoss Cortez, Chancellor's Daddy. They fitted beautifully together.

Cortez and Nila

Melissa from Bullsbrook in WA is tremendously excited to have a lovely Cortez buckskin colt born to her T'bred mare, Zabby. This little fella was also 12 days early and this is a photo of him at around a week old. He certainly has the Cortez look about him. There are a lovely group of people in Bullsbrook who are Morgan lovers as well. Melissa's Mum, Leonie owns Haymeron Park Epona. Kath, their good friend, owns Red Bluff Clearwind, and Rachel, my very first riding instructor, who is also a close friend to these ladies (and introduced them to Morgans), will take Wilga Park Tippuhana to Bullsbrook, in foal to Cortez, mid 2010.

This is Cruze!!

Golden Glory had her first tie-up session with Greg recently ... she didn't blink an eye ... and when Greg walked her into the Shed to sit in the shade for a bit, she was very happy to stay with him and was not one bit nervous about being in a confined area. Don't you love these Morgans!!! Glory has just turned one year old. She is full sister to Golden Ash and Golden Solidago. This line is superb when it comes to that totally laid back temperament most people love.

Glory and Greg ... these two have a rather special relationship!

We are moving!! Well, really, we are not moving far at all. Instead of being 12 kms from teh centre of Toowoomba on the north west, we will be 23 kms from the centre of Toowoomba to the south. We have purchased a magnificent 150 acre horse property - simply so that we can continue to make more of these wonderful Morgans for people to enjoy. We want everyone to have the experience that we have enjoyed since meeting the Morgan Horse.

It will be a huge wrench to leave our beautiful property behind, but we plan to put in an arena, and eventually build our house again on the 150 acres. In the meantime, we will have a cosy two bedroom cottage to live in. We plan to turn the old 2 roomed schoolhouse (a really quaint little building) into accomodation for our guests. We also have a resident koala!!

The School House ... and the Koala.

Frozen semen from Cortez is now available for those more remote areas of Australia and Tasmania. We were lucky enough to have our Breeding Vets ask to use Cortez to test their new equipment (many thousands of dollars worth). We now have about 24 doses of frozen semen from Cortez. Robyn, our Vet, tested the semen on one of her recipient mares (embryo transfer mares) and the mare was pregnant first time. It is a relief to know we have the insurance of the semen should anything ever happen to our wonderful stallion, Cortez.
