September 2009 Wilga Park Madagascar is under saddle .... Another Cortez Filly is born ... Di and Loretta come to visit from South Australia ... Golden Glory's first bath ..... Wilga Park Chambourcin is growing up ... The Broome, WA, Cortez kids are enjoying bush and beach rides ... Wilga Park Madagascar has been started. Maddy is our 4th baby under saddle. He is 4 months off turning three years old and he is an impressive young gelding, indeed. Maddy will have a performance career in Dressage, but will also have lots of time out on the Trail. Just days after taking him home from the Breaker, Lisa rode Maddy out on the roads around their property and he was unflappable!! Cars rushing past didn't make him flick an ear. Lisa tells me 'Awesome' is just not expressive enough for this young Morgan.

Lisa's first ride. It's just a pity we can't see the huge smile on her face!! Boulevard Gabrielle was born on 6th September. Gabbie is another stunning Cortez baby out of a Thoroughbred mare, Just a Toot. Comments from her young owner, Esther, assure me that she is the perfect package. Esther tells me that apart from Cortez's temperament, they wanted the good bone that he would put into his foal ... and they have not been disappointed. Sadly, Just a Toot, Gabbie's Dam, was put down from a bad case of colic, when Gabbie was not yet two weeks old. Esther and her Mum are hand-rearing Gabbie.
The beautiful Boulevard Gabrielle owned by Esther ... just hours old... and
The gorgeous Jamala Flame - 10 days old. Cortez's first foal of the season owned by Leanne. Di and Loretta from South Australia came to visit us in early September. What great ladies they are. We had such an enjoyable time with them, talking Morgan horses for hours, drinking wine, watching videos of Morgans and riding Morgans ... not necessarily in that order, of course. Di has her mare, Kings Genevieve booked to Cortez this season and the girls came up to meet him, and us ... and it really made it all rather special for us!! Loretta had never ridden a Stallion before, so we were thrilled to watch her enjoy some time on Cortez. Di also had her first ride on a Stallion ... Cortez looked after her beautifully. Di had had a hip operation and was not allowed on a horse until that very weekend. Some photos follow of the time we spent together .... Di, Cortez and Kathy enjoying a snuggle in the paddock - and Di and Loretta meeting Cortez . ![]() Kathy with Oscar and Chase showing off their party trick ... Loretta enjoying the 'Mountain Ride' on Cortez
Loretta on Cortez, cantering through the bush, and on Calypso in the Arena.
Golden Glory - chatting with Di over the gate ... and ....
... chatting to Dad over the gate! I'm sure that's a smile on her face :-D Golden Glory who is now 9 months old, has been hanging over that gate watching as the riding horses are given their hose down in the Morgan Ensuite. She almost looked like she was trying to lean over to join in so that she could get some of the attention that was being spread around. Greg decided that it wouldn't hurt to introduce her to water on her legs and being sprayed a little, as it was a really hot day. He brought Glory into the wash bay area and began to hose her legs down ... within moments Glory was standing freely in the wash bay, lapping up the attention and even enjoying the water being sprayed all over her face. You would swear she had been hosed down every day of her life since birth. She loved it!

And enjoying the freedom of the arena after her bath
Wilga Park Chambourcin is almost two years old and Gill of Shibui Morgan Stud has forwarded some photos of her. Gill says Champy has never had an ugly day in her life and has the longest, thickest, curly mane and tail!! Chambourcin will be a beautiful mare!
Wilga Park Chambourcin - almost two years old - at Shibui Morgan Stud in Victoria Wilga Park Summer Beauty(aka Chance) and Wilga Park Golden Ash (aka Flynn) have been out on bush rides and beach rides in Broome. Both these youngsters are not yet three years old. Born days apart, 5 weeks before Wilga Park Madagascar, they are suitably impressing their owners, us, and their Trainer with their impeccable temperaments and wonderful personalities. They are in the best hands with Tam and Sue, their owners, and Kellie Stewart from SaltRiver Performance Horses in WA, who gives them some training every couple of months. Kellie took all of 3 hours to start Golden Ash, just a few months ago. I am hoping for some photos to share with you all .......
