RanchBoss Cortez and his start in Dressage Since arriving in Australia and being released from Quarantine on 22 December 2005, RanchBoss Cortez has settled in well and has begun to make his mark in Dressage Circles. By the end of March we had Linda Shore begin Cortez's training in Dressage. He had been started with three months of Reining Training in the USA. However, we like to take our horses through some Dressage training to help with self-carriage and create that superb muscle development, prior to putting them into other disciplines. Linda was so pleased with how Cortez took to Dressage that she decided to compete him in April at the Toowoomba Dressage Club competition. After just three weeks of training Cortez scored a magnificent 69.5% in his first competition and a 62.4% in his second. He certainly made his mark that day. He brought home a first and second placing in his two tests. As Cortez developed his talent in Dressage so quickly, we decided to register him officially with the EFA, so that Linda could aim to compete him at the Queensland State Dressage Championships in October 06. In his first two official outings in Gatton and Caboolture, Cortez gained his qualifying scores to go to 'State'. We could not have been more proud. Linda is now developing a Freestyle to Music for him to perform at the Sunshine Coast Championships and the Queensland State Championships. |
